Grammy & Grandad come to Visit!

Grammy, Grandad, and Casey came to visit us on their grand trip around the eastern part of the US. With Ryan and I in school, it was a low key visit. They got to go to our first soccer practice and out to dinner (twice). But pretty much we relaxed at home. This evening, it was cool enough to eat outside!

And take some fun family pictures:

And play with Casey (BTW, Jillian learned to say "ball" this week while playing with Casey! The kids love him and he seems to be getting used to them, because he didn't jump up on them this trip, even in the beginning!):

And then a little cooling off while Daddy waters the flowers:

The Hope of a New Season

The Redskins play Buffalo tonight in preseason football! Because of the recent Hall of Fame trip and because the gameis being broadcast on the NFL network (which we get), we are a little hyped up around here tonight!

Everyone's decked out in burgundy and gold!

Hail to the Redskins!

First Day of Kindergarten!

I don't have access to my editting software to crop these right now, but I really want to post them.

Looking up to her big brother (Katy-I know you'll like this one!):

By the school sign (not wanting his picture taken!):

Putting his bag in his cubby...this was so easy because it was just like what he's been doing for two years!!

He had no problem being dropped off! We are so proud! I got a little teary after walking away!
Mrs. Wagner, Ryan and Mrs. Benedetti:

It was only two hours, but everyone said it was "good." Stay tuned!

On days seventy-five through seventy-eight...

we had a rather unceremonious end to our summer.

I started back to school for inservice, then tutored in the evenings for two days, meaning I only saw the kids for a bit on Monday and Tuesday.

Ryan and I registered him for school on Tuesday and had breakfast together at IHOP afterwards.

Scott and I went to "Meet the Teacher" night at St. Francis on Wednesday night and are very excited about Ryan's teachers! Ryan and Jillian got to hang out with Aunt Barb, Rivers & Harley.

We didn't really celebrate the last day of summer, but Ryan and I did do some last minute shopping for proper school socks at Target right before bedtime. We also read a book about Kindergarten.

Ready to go!!

On day seventy-four of summer...

Daddy came back from Ohio! We got to pick him up at the airport!

On the seventy-third day of summer...

we played photo shoot at a park in Arlington with our friends Meredith, Matt, Charlie & Grayson. We found some good light under the equipment, and here's a good uneditted picture of Meredith's boys:

And Jillian:

We had fun on the swings:

Meanwhile, In Ohio, Scott talked the boys into going for a hike along the Ohio and Erie Canal:

Mike, appreciating nature:

Then it was off to the Hall of Fame inductions (with a quick stop for food):

On the seventy-second day of summer...

I found Jillian eating Ryan's cereal in the pantry:

Scott and the boys played some golf and went to a Cleveland Indians game:

On the seventy-first day of summer...

Scott toured the NFL Hall of Fame with his brother-in-law, Mike, nephew, Matt, and Dad:

Here's Matt:

Meanwhile, back in Memphis I had two cavities filled, then did my civic duty and voted:

We ate apples with peanut butter:

Jillian wants to do everything her big brother does.

We made chocolate chip banana muffins:

Ryan asked if we could bring my old Fisher Price Little People downstairs to play with. Instead, I pulled out his old ones that had been boxed up for over a year. It was like Christmas!

Best part was that Jillian enjoyed playing them (I mena chewing on them), too:

On the seventieth day of summer...

Scott left for Ohio to attend the NFL Hall of Fame inductions with his dad, brother-in-law and nephew.

I had a second day of new teacher inservice.

And our battery back-up started acting silly. So I pulled out the desk and started messing with stuff. I had my laptop, so I didn't really care that the computer was unplugged, but then I lost internet and started caring a bit more.

For some reason, the back-up battery only liked the outlet on the other side of the hall, so now there's a cord stretched across the walk-way. And a mess.
My new computer is supposed to be here, but I was really thinking I'd wait for Scott to get home before setting it up. Now that I have it all pulled out, I figure I might as well try it. We'll see!

On the sixty-ninth day of summer...

we bought Ryan's school uniforms:

We did this after I attended my new teacher meetings in the morning. I'm going back to St. George's this year to teach two classes in the afternoon, and I'm very excited!

On the sixty-seventh day of summer...

we celebrated twelve years of marriage:

We tried out a new game that puts to rest a family dispute. For years, we have dealt with a difference in family rules. In my family, if you cannot play, you choose one card. In Scott's family, if you cannot play, you pick cards until you get one that you can play. This new Uno shoots out cards at you when you press the button, so it doesn't matter anymore! Family disagreement solved!

We grilled outside and Jillian picked flowers:

Then waited for us to bring dinner in:
